To draft your mission: In keeping with the tradition in some cultures of writing an ethical will — which, instead of passing along valuables, passes along values — a Legacy Project Life Statement is a way to explore who you are, your relationships with others, and your impact on the world.
Now, write up your short list, the 2 or 3 things that really rock your boat — the things that fulfill you, the things which you would like to do every single day in order to feel complete. This will reinforce your core values and priorities ensuring your actions are congruent with your beliefs and desires.
I challenge people to grow and let them know they are expected to enable the growth of others. Another pitfall is people around you may become less willing to challenge your beliefs and actions because of your title and position power.
Learning is not limited to reading the success stories of others, earning a degree or certification or completing a class. To get you started, begin by creating a list of things that you enjoy most. Who are my heroes?
So how do you go about designing a Personal Legacy that you can leave behind for generation to come? As a leader, what is it you want to pass on to others? What is my mission in life? As each presentation was given, we took notes. But I must also learn from my mistakes. I must create an environment in which it is acceptable for others to make mistakes, to learn from those mistakes, and look ahead to continuous improvement, not back to find points of blame.
It goes beyond an ethical will, memoir, life story, or autobiography because it speaks to your core values and who you are in a bigger context. Look to the future Define clearly what you still hope to accomplish in your life, and encourage those reading your legacy statement to set their own goals and try to achieve them.

Make Your Personal Mission Statement Your mission statement helps define what you do and helps to explain your purpose. I am engaging with real people who have real lives outside of work, and I must ensure that they are properly balancing work and life.

As a leader, I teach others. I want to be loved — especially by my family — but by as many as possible, and to be able to come to love them as well.
Others may not necessarily agree with what I have to say, but I must at least say it and then provide my reasoning, so that others may form their own thoughts and opinions, learning from my knowledge and experience, even if that means ultimately moving in another direction.
